All life can be condensed into a Weakerthans line/Rubik's Cube
It feels like there is so much left to say
So much left to do
Yet opportunity seems to slip away
Like so many birds to the wind
And it's easier without you
In the moment
Like a Rubik's cube
I can't put back in place
But it's harder without you
In the picture who's frame is larger than today
And this pettiness
Of begging for simplification
Amongst questions I don't want answered
And so many moments gone wrong.
It's such delusion,
When I catch myself saying
In Slean's voice
"If I could have just one piece, I'd be..."
Beginning to doubt
If I even bear the ability
To be content
I'm no better than
Disgusting ambitious little Americans
I told you: we always want
So I can't pretend
That it would any different
On the other side of that fence
Between indeed,
The past and present tense.
So much left to do
Yet opportunity seems to slip away
Like so many birds to the wind
And it's easier without you
In the moment
Like a Rubik's cube
I can't put back in place
But it's harder without you
In the picture who's frame is larger than today
And this pettiness
Of begging for simplification
Amongst questions I don't want answered
And so many moments gone wrong.
It's such delusion,
When I catch myself saying
In Slean's voice
"If I could have just one piece, I'd be..."
Beginning to doubt
If I even bear the ability
To be content
I'm no better than
Disgusting ambitious little Americans
I told you: we always want
So I can't pretend
That it would any different
On the other side of that fence
Between indeed,
The past and present tense.
