Capture the Flag of our Hearts

Well, I've got something that you want
And I want something that you've got
The pieces don't come together
The whole just falls apart

And I don't know how
To make it right
Cause there's
No salvation in this silence
But it's all
We seem to know how to do

Something could be achieved
If we just closed our eyes and believed
But you're not loud enough
And I'm not big enough
To climb over this mountain
That appeared between us

Now there's no movement
In this cold war
I'll take my hostages
And you take yours
Like teams for some flag
Or a game of baseball
I don't go near
Your Main street kingdom
And you stay off
The north shore
So there's no risk
Of cross-contamination

Even though
I've got something that you want
And I want something that you've got
The pieces don't come together
And the whole just falls apart

An Everyday Breakdown

There's something to be said
There's something to be said
And I don't know what it is

The words fold around
The pages curled
That I carry conspicuously
All day and all night
Everywhere
There's supposed to be
An answer in there
Isn't there?
There is sense to be found
Not the reasons
Sought after

But the moments
I cling to
Fall away from me
Disparagingly
I've been saying
Things like "disheartening"
A lot, lately
Those smells and sounds
Fade away before me
Like the light you saw
Before your brain broke
My mind betrays me
When I'm not looking
Carefully enough
To keep in line
To keep crawling up
Instead of falling down

So I close my eyes
And I chose to believe
Whispers, repeatedly
"It's gonna be alright."

Mother is not just a Danzig song

In the mirror
I am your image
In my heart
You are not reflected

She doesn't resemble you
On the surface
But your hollow heart
Washed her over too many years
To avoid staining
The way she sees everything
That high pitched voice
In her head
Even when
You're not around
She's still fighting
To figure out for herself

That we are all
Just props and costumes
The world is a play
That's all about you
It's a one man show...

To save myself
From your grim reaper
I filled up the empty
Ocean between us
Plunged my disappointment
To drown in
The waters you're too
Afraid to swim
There is nothing left here
But the skeletal remains
Of pretending
I still love you

Where we are all
Just props and costumes
The world is a play
That's all about you
It's a one man show...

Smile for the camera
Saying cheese
With all your rotted teeth
Yet to learn
That your child is not
Your competitor
And I am not your
Public shame
You put the way it looks
On the outside
Above the way it is
At the heart

I tried to tell her in
My random failure code
But I didn't do enough
To overcome
The years and days
Of your compulsive destruction

Where we are all
Just props and costumes
The world is a play
That's all about you
It's a one man show...
The world is your
One man show...mother

Since Wednesday...

Since Wednesday
Tell me what's changed

Since Wednesday
Tell me what's changed

Since Wednesday
Tell me what's changed

A day
Is just a day

Not everything
Needs to be confiscated

Since Wednesday
Tell me what's changed?
